6 Reasons for Communitarian Living
We are moving from our super-energy-efficient, passive solar home built in 2001 to a farmhouse built in 1800. (And looking for someone to buy the cozy green home we raised our family in. Check it out here and spread the word!) We are excited to have more space to share with extended family. And, we will have a project on our hands! Regaining some of the features we are leaving behind—heat pumps, PV, a composting toilet, and more—will take time. A fun and satisfying challenge we hope!
The great news is that we will still be part of the experiment we have participated in for almost 30 years: Cobb Hill Cohousing, a multi-generational community of 23 families in Vermont’s Connecticut River Valley. The house we are moving to is located within Cobb Hill, just a bit further from the cluster of houses we’ve called home.
The Trump Tariffs Just Got Even Worse
So no, I’m not up in the middle of the night obsessing about tariffs. It’s mid-morning here. Still, I didn’t plan a tariff post today; Part I of my financial crisis primer will be going up in a few hours.
But I wanted to put up a quick response to yesterday’s sudden move to exempt electronics. What you need to know is that it does not represent a move toward sanity. On the contrary, the Trump tariffs just got even worse.
Bill Maher is very sad because you hate him. boo fucking hoo
what was it about Bill Maher that first made you loathe him?
was it his Islamophobia? his transphobia? his misogyny? was it the glee with which he punches down on every marginalized group? his willingness to embrace anti-science nonsense?
was it his habit of inviting right-wing hatemongers like Ann Coulter onto his show and giggling along with them as they spew vile shit?
or was it just his general air of smug assholishness? ‘look at me, I’m a baaaad boy!’
shut the fuck up, Bill.
YIKES! Trump Foreign Policy BLOWS UP in his FACE
Trump admin already walks back smartphone, laptop tariff exemption
"This is not like a permanent sort of exemption," Lutnick continued before referring to Trump's thinking on tariffs. "He's just clarifying that these are not available to be negotiated away by countries. These are things that are national security, that we need to be made in America."
According to Lutnick, the products exempted from the current reciprocal tariffs will be covered under new "semiconductor tariffs" that Trump will likely announce in "a month or two."
